FAQ

Do you have a studio?

No. Studios are really expensive, especially for the type of images I would want to produce in one. I’m not interested in recreating the posed portrait on a white backdrop, I did that for years when I worked in a studio. I would also never, ever, ever shoot on a backdrop that is painted like a bookcase or Santa’s living room. Real settings will never go out of style.

I have a dream of buying a big house, painting every room a different color and making that into my studio. Every room would be decorated a different way and change throughout the year. Even the yard decorations would change all year long. I would shoot modern pinup portraits against lime green walls with colored gels and leopard print furniture. I would build a pool with colored lights for underwater portraits and even have a “pink flamingo portrait day” in my big yard.

Did you go to school for photography?

I am permanently enrolled in the school of life.

How many megapixels does your camera have?

It’s not the size that counts, it’s what you do with it. Believe it.

Do you have backup equipment?

Yes.

I have bad skin/teeth/insert-other-flaw-here. Will you touch it up?

I am not a touch up artist, I am a photographer. If you are ordering prints of an image and have one spot you want cloned out, I can probably do it. Otherwise, I will give you a quote from my lab. They do an outstanding job and are much more qualified than me when it comes to that sort of thing.

Do you put your logo on your prints?

Heck no, I want you to frame it. I can also do that for you.

If I hire you to photograph my wedding, will you definitely be the person doing it? I have heard of photographers overbooking and then hiring other people to shoot their weddings.

When you hire me, you get me. I do have a stipulation in my wedding contract that if I am unable to do it because I am very ill or an Act of God keeps me from your wedding, I will try to get another photographer to take my place or else I am only liable for what you paid me. This is only to protect my family if the unthinkable happens. I am very healthy and not afraid to hitchhike if my car breaks down and I can’t get help.

My friends tell me I should look for an “unobtrusive” wedding photographer. Are you one?

Probably not. I have been nicknamed “Ninja” and “Magical Ninja” by my clients for my ability to blend in and get the shot. I do not, however, hide in the corner with a long zoom. Please read How I Photograph Weddings.
